While in college studying zoology and English, I had a work/study job with a master furniture builder where I gleaned an appreciation for joinery and finishing. Newly married, Nancy and I moved to Annecy, France and began making wooden toys. A generous ebeniste (furniture restorer) let me use a corner of his shop and, with Nancy’s help, we proceeded to turn out playful and play worthy toys. When we returned to the States some pieces were sold through an artisan’s gallery in New York City. While raising our family we kept our skills honed by designing and building all the cabinetry and much of the furniture in our home. Now that we’ve retired we are in a position to build objects that reflect our creativity for other people. While living in Colorado, we used pine and fir from an amazing mill surrounded by the San Juan Mountains. Now that we’re living in Mt Carroll, our main source of material comes locally from Johnson Creek Hardwoods. Let us design and build something for you!
